There is also an article in the New Yorker about the original study led by Stanford University professor, Walter Mischel. Walter’s three daughters were all part of the study that took place at Stanford’s Bing Nursery School, so as his daughters grew, he would learn about the academic and social progress of the other children from the study. He found a direct correlation between the kids who couldn’t resist the marshmallow and behavioral problems and low test scores, and continues to follow these now adults. Pretty neat.
